LDA & Family Court Coach

My name is Cynthia, and I’m the founder of Pro Se Legal Document Prep and Pro Se Family Court Coach. My journey into family law began in 2016 during my own marriage, when I supported my then-husband through a family court case involving his child. That experience opened my eyes to how overwhelming, confusing, and emotionally charged family court can be, especially for parents without legal representation.
Inspired to make a difference, I returned to school and earned my Paralegal degree in 2020 and began working as a family law paralegal while completing a second degree in Sociology. In 2023, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with an emphasis in Law & Society as a pre-law student, graduating on the Dean’s List just five months after becoming a first-time mom.
My professional experience is deeply personal. I’ve now been a pro se litigant myself and had a successful outcome in my own family court case. I know firsthand what it’s like to prepare documents, stand in front of a judge, and advocate for your child. That experience, combined with my legal background, education, and courtroom knowledge, allows me to offer both practical support and real-life guidance to my clients.

In 2025, I launched my dual business: Pro Se Legal Document Prep, where I assist self-represented litigants in California with preparing and filing their court forms properly and on time, and Pro Se Family Court Coach, where I provide guidance, insight, and structure to parents and individuals navigating the emotional and legal challenges of family court.
Over the years, I’ve also spent hundreds of hours observing family court hearings across multiple counties, listening to a wide range of judges, cases, and outcomes. This hands-on exposure has given me a unique and well-rounded perspective on how judges make decisions, what strategies work in the courtroom, and what pitfalls to avoid. While earning my paralegal degree, I interned at the Self-Help in Court, where I saw even more clearly how many people were left to navigate the court system on their own.
In 2025, I became a registered Legal Document Assistant (LDA) and joined CALDA (California Association of Legal Document Assistants), which holds me to high standards of professionalism, compliance, and care.
I also wrote The Family Court Workbook — a powerful resource designed to help parents understand the court process, prepare emotionally, and present their case effectively. I wrote it while preparing for my own case, with the goal of helping others who feel lost, overwhelmed, or unsupported.
In addition to my client work, I’ve grown a dedicated social media following of over 40,000 people who turn to me for clear, relatable information about family court. Through short videos and educational content, I help parents and self-represented litigants better understand the system before they ever step into a courtroom.
